PA vs SIN

I just realise Pennsylvania is around 200 times bigger than Singapore but PA's population is doubled of Singapore only. Come on! it should be 200 times of Sin's population. In other words, PA has 100km2 more land for each person!!! 100 freaking km2 more.....!!

Did anybody go Jurong Point, the newly expanded mall? The traffic is estimated to be 2.2 million each month, that's a freaking at least 10,000 everyday?? i need to share and shove around the mall with 10,000 everytime i go to the mall? (who are these people who spoke with high pitchy voice and who are those who have shifting eyes!-i'm pretty used to the latter and start to accept them but the previous now make me wish they just go away!)

Flowers

Isn't it such a Big Big bouquet? It has red, white and yellow daisies, Orchids, White Lilies and pink and white lilies (suspected hybrid-anybody knows?) And there are small buds growing along the stalk of the flowers. I zapped off the stalks, put them in a container and dumped some nutrients into the waters. Some of the lilies and Orchids were still not budding yet. I was pleasantly shocked to see them blossom some days later.

Toyota is the world’s most reputable company for the year 2008, a study by Reputation Institute, a New York based research firm concluded.

The Japanese company is currently the world’s largest auto maker, ahead of General Motors, the company it overtook since the last two years. Apart from the Toyota brand itself, it also owns other best selling vehicle brands such as Lexus, Scion, and Daihatsu in the form of compact cars, sport utility vehicles and trucks.

Other than the automotive business, Toyota also provides financial services such as financing, equipment leasing and related financial products.

On the second position was Google, which breaks into the top spot for the first time. The world’s largest search engine, which has won numerous business awards in the recent years, came as a little surprise, with the company’s reputation and value rising up almost unstoppable.
Sweden’s IKEA, Italy’s Ferrero and America’s Johnson & Johnson came third, fourth and fifth respectively.

More than 600 largest companies were researched to find those with the best global reputation. Toyota, which is headquartered in Tokyo, Aichi and Nagoya, Japan, was ranked 6th in the last two years - 2006 and 2007. In July 2008, Toyota was named as the world’s 5th largest company in the world, behind Wal-Mart, Exxon Mobil, Shell and BP.

BBQ during lunch hour

Last Wednesday i had a yummy juicy lunch hour- We had a department BBQ outside office.
I love my steak with cheese melted on top.
Had a hotdog, turkey and beef one.
Had pulled pork.
Finished with lotsa Chips.

Ocean Grove Beach, New Jersey

Last wk end, i went to a very special event - a Christian get-to-gether at the Beach. All for the sake of Summer. It was very special, i get to sit on the beach map (that has biblical verse printed on it), eat SunChips and listen to worship songs and sermons by Pastor Chris, all wearing a bikini to get a tan.



Phil Wickham (he's kinda cute) was there for a few songs. Pastor Lloyd Pulley preached, his pastor - Raul Ries preached too. And there was Chris McCarrick whom i thought his voice pretty strong (cos I was busy 'shopping' for free bargains - free sermon CDs, Christian books etc..). His voice was then the background music.

After that i had a very expensive seafood dinner cos' New Jersey's by the East coast so the fish are supposed to be slaved that morning. i liked my tuna much - was craving for wine but kept it in.. Nevertheless, perfect!

Shenandoah National Park, Virginia

If you love nature, Shenandoah NP is the place for you, away from the hassle of life, close to mountains (it is along the stretch of Blue Ridge Mountains) and some animals. There are breath-taking sights when you scale the heights but this not for the faint hearted-i realised i still have not conquered my altitude phobia. This the house we live in. A 3storey house, with attic and basement- its neat! We scaled Bearfence mountain and its marked in my Facebook with a photo tagged.

work rage

got upset with work this week. Actually cried at workplace in front of the Singapore peers. Thanks for being there, really really appreciate them for saying good words. Though the upsetting part was kinda mellowed down ALOT cos of some changes that i kinda fought for. I'm still confused over what really happened and refused to think into it.

I'll work on whatever i think thats lacking (though that seems a little vague). Kinda demoralised - not a little but a whole load of it. Guess i've to draw strength and find confidence really quick, time to pick myself up from the pit. I miss people out there i love. Want you to know that.

Anger in the workplace -- employees and employers who are grumpy, insulting, short-tempered or worse -- is shockingly common and likely growing as Americans cope with woes of rising costs, job uncertainty or overwhelming debt, experts say.

"It runs the gamut from just rudeness up to pretty extreme abusive behaviors," said Paul Spector, professor of industrial and organizational psychology at the University of South Florida. "The severe cases of fatal violence get a lot of press but in some ways this is more insidious because it affects millions of people."

Nearly half of U.S. workers in America report yelling and verbal abuse on the job, with roughly a quarter saying it has driven them to tears, research has shown.

Other research showed one-sixth of workers reported anger at work has led to property damage, while a tenth reported physical violence and fear their workplace might not be safe.
"It's a total disaster," said Anna Maravelas, author of "How to Reduce Workplace Conflict and Stress." "Rudeness, impatience, people being angry -- we used to do that kind of stuff at home but at work, we were professional. Now it's almost becoming trendy to do it at work.

"It was something we did behind closed doors," she said. "Now people are losing their sense of embarrassment over it."

Contemporary pressures such as rising fuel costs fan the flames, said John Challenger, head of Chicago's Challenger, Gray & Christmas workplace consultants.

"People are coming to work after a long commute, sitting in traffic watching their discretionary income burn up. They're ready for a fight or just really upset," he said.

Added to that, he said, are financially strapped workers having to cut back on paying for personal pastimes that might serve as an antidote to work pressures.

LET OFF STEAM

"That means people come into work after a weekend and they haven't been able to let off any steam," he said.
Spector said his research has found 2 percent to 3 percent of people admit to pushing, slapping or hitting someone at work. With roughly 100 million people in the U.S. work force, he said, that's as many as 3 million people.

Maravelas said she conducted a seminar this week in rural Iowa, where she asked participants if they thought anger was increasing at their workplace.

Everyone raised their hands, she said, which is typically the response she gets. She cited research showing 88 percent of U.S. employees think incivility is rising at work.

"Many of us sense we're losing ground economically and socially. The safety net is unraveling. Hence, anxiety and unease are skyrocketing," she said.

People reassure themselves by blaming others and "find comfort in believing their suffering is caused by a callous, incompetent or selfish organization, leader, supplier, union or regulatory body," she said.
The worst offenders are overachievers, said Rachelle Canter, a workplace expert and social psychologist. "The usual profile is Type A, really, really smart, with impossibly high standards they set for themselves as well as for other people.

"They are so invested, I would say maybe over-invested, in success and in everyone being every bit as driven as they are that they just lose their sense of perspective, and they can lash out at other people," said Canter, author of "Make the Right Career Move."

But desk rage extends across industry and class lines, from top white-collar jobs to gritty blue-collar work, and companies pay dearly in terms of lost productivity, sagging morale and higher absenteeism, Spector said.

The worst cases end in violence, he said.

"Somebody didn't just come to work one day and shoot somebody," Spector said. "There's probably been a pattern of less extreme behaviors leading up to it."

Spring

Dex and I made some wishes at Washington DC Art museum. We took turns to say our wishes and tossed out coins into the fountain. Silly, but hope the wishes come true.

March

March is coming to an end. We went skiing in 1st March. Damn shiok. But I cut my face, (end of shiokness) and the skiing came to a halt. (Look, the muscular instructor beside me.) I've already removed my gears, the poles are for show. haha.

Given a chance, i'll do it again, have to wait till next fall then, don't even know if it will be cold enough before i go back Singapore in Dec.

Hao lian i got parcel from Mika and Ying. This time round, it got delivered to my house cos i was at home on Saturday. Damn glad I didn't miss the postman.

My time is brought forward exactly 12 hours difference to Singapore's time. It feels easier to relate back to Singapore. But not exactly that much of a difference. But I lost 1 hour! Still, in November 2nd, i'll have another 1 hour back.

My days are now as long as Singapore's. The sun sets at 7+ now. I like it. It used to set at 5+. Oh it turned Spring yesterday. Spring!!!!!!!! *happiness. looking forward to better weather

my room

I heard mentions that I did not take pictures of my room, when I went back Singapore.
Here it is! My room revealed~

The cheapest furnitures from Ikea, mostly. The chair with my cardigan on it, is second hand.

Other than the bed frame, which I bot bcos my knees pain, the rest are cheap and nice!

Not cheaper than Spore Ikea though, its the same price (digits) in Sing and USD!

My 1 dollar shop reindeer (which had a hole in the neck as I discovered later on, but Ah Ma dearest Chin sewed it for me) and also the pink bear bot by Dexter during the Christmas exchange. In the middle if you can spot, is the cock-eye elmo i brought over from Singapore, given by the dearest Monster Weiling.

Simply adore the closet space.

I'm taking the master bed room this half a year, Ya will take over for the other half.

Till then, this is the room I've and will continue to spend countless hours in.

Baby and lacross game

Went back small island spore for a week during CNY.

Wasn't feeling fantastic all the time having a little jet lag.

This little thing really amaze me. A four month old baby shrieking for attention or someone to talk to her as a group conversation was going on. Indeed a grown up from the 1 month old baby I saw before i left.

Before I came back for CNY, we went to watch the Lacross Match. Exciting! Was a really close match for our Philly team Wings and Bandits (Buffalo, New York).

In the end, Philly Wings won!!

Make some noise!!!!!!!!

And bcos they have more than 10goals, we can use our tkt stubs to collect Cold Stone Creamery ice-cream that we (or I?) have wanted to try all these whiles.

Happy with all our ice creamo.

Ya and I had mint choc ice creamo. It came with a chocolate cake, choc chips and cho fudge mixed and crushed with vanila ice cream. Talking about eating until sick. No 2nd helping for this.

Actually tks for Edwin (my sup) tog with wife (Grace) who brought us not only to this game, but also the previous Ice-hockey game. Really had fun!

I recieved my parcel!

Last Friday I left work about 330 in order to beat the post office closing hour.

Had to take bus to the post office @ Allendale which is like some ulu place. Wonder y the parcels are usually directed there. And of cos dun wan to pai sey my peers to acc me cos' a bus journey is 1.45cents.

And when I saw the parcel handed over from the woman at the badly maintained post office, I was kinda taken aback. Thats a big parcel! I mean what could be inside? Smiled gratefully to the lady and took over the parcel and immediately read through the declaration of contents on the parcel. Thermal flask? Wat? (its a thing i've been searching for 3 months cos i can't find an apt one).

Waited outside in the freezing cold to take the bus to meet the rest at King of Prussia mall. When is the bus coming??? At less than 10degrees, I can't help but feel an overwhelming warmth coming forth from the parcel. Felt some tears blurring my sight. No, the tears did not roll down my face. (in case you think i'm some emo-freak).
