Vietnam first day
Vietnam First Day
Dar and I were very excited. In the early morn, Dar bot an orange juice for me in the holding area. Checking in to plane was a little different today with the new regulations on not allowing mineral water bottles etc and declaring the small bottles. There was a young educator explaning. As we board the flight, I tried to sleep, I want to enjoy any single part of this trip with Dar; kindly sponsored by my sisters, my parents and of cos' Dar. Dar had this baugette on board..tasted pretty good, but S$7 is a bit ex.
Jetstar has alot of empty seats. After all this flight is 745am. It wasn't hard to notice the couple behind me. I first heard their chirpy chatter on Vietnam. After a while I turned, the girl was sleeping on the boyfriend's lap. Dar and I had the window seat and upon aproaching, we looked at the many Vietnam land patches like little children.
We had hotels that were cheaper than Singapore's. But they are really quite comfortable. *Thumbs up. We took a cab to Liberty 2 from the airport, paying US5 (i think its really ex for their country) for it.
we had a short rest and then...off to this market just right behind our hotel!

Off we were to Ben Thanh Market, having had good reviews about the food and shopping. To our utmost dissapointment, they are not only expensive(for their currency) but in poor taste.
Before we even reach that place, it was a nerve wrecking, had to wack kind of thing because the traffic there is continuous. If you don't brave urself to dash through the road, you will never get to cross it! For the 5days in Viet, we learned how to cross the road and slowly adapt to being suave about it. Dar and I still speak about dashing across crowded Singapore roads and laughing at it.
I ate 1 bite of the fish cake and that was it. Darling thinks its nice but not knowing what it exactly has in it, it gives me the chills when he said it might be rat's meat. I mean Vietnamese do eat snakes' and rats' meat.
Yet again, I don't eat the fish cake in Singapore so.. you judge..
The soup of the Beef Pho is not bad though. But all the raw vegtables (Basil, peppermint leaves) do make it kinda weird.

Total price: 64,000 dongs (S6.40) = was a bit too ex
Puking level: 4/5
This eating stall is the most kanna chop of all..(in terms of money)
The attractions are all within walking distance in HCM City.
ok, we didn't go in. Cos u need US$1. Doesn't look very inviting too. But kinda regret. wonder whats inside.
Oh, if you ask me whats that yellow food. I think its some rice. It doesn't look a bit inviting to me at all! haha. She offered US1. So expensive?!
This the place I had really want to visit. I mean I've thought I will feel out of the world reading and understanding the vietnam war right in Vietnam itself.
This being the fact that I was never a history student. Vietnam war brought much cruelty to the innocence who were never directly involved. The Americans fought the guerillas in Vietnam but the cruelty they inflict on the prisoners of war is really startling.
I think i got some facts wrong. The Americans proclaim it as a fight against the guerillas but ended up as a way to occupy Viet. no yes? will get it right soon.
Just read this and you will know.
The background is the war planning points which I couldn't make out. There are many ang mohs in Viet. These 2 brokeback guys are really outstanding. THEIR babies really cute.
Actually Viet is not that hot, its just that their places of interests are not air-conditoned! All fans. I really wonder why they don't invest in air con for more tourist bucks. Freaking hot. Darling's hair was sticking on his forehead. Ok, at least mine hasn't yet.
I needed my ice-coffee. Dar had his ice lemon tea. At least this cafe had air con! And we were the only 2 inside.
Freaking funny. We couldn't communicate to the staff. I was testing my limited Viet and they ignored the watever sounds i made.

Next up! the Museum of HCM city. HCM was french colonised 100over years ago. This explains why their buildings still remains beautifully crafted the french way.
Actually the museum closes at 5pm but having reached there at 445pm, I insist on going in since we were already there and we had free entrance (instead of US1) and we had the whole museum to ourselves! ok, for that little while. ha ha..
Because there were nobody there, the darling turned into a clown.

I can't rem if Dar told me this or if the excerpt on the display says: Do not light up more than three times or you will be discovered by the enemies.
