Chinese New Year
So I had a really really good Chinese new year, meeting some of my favourite people, especially Shihan. Haven’t met that treasure in the longest time. This new year is really special cos’ Sista brought back Lucas baby who had been in the ICU and then SCU for a few months. He has grown so much so much – I couldn’t help staring at him non-stop. I can’t wait for him to grow bigger so I can kiss him! Right now he’s still vulnerable so I can’t touch him without sterilising my hands and such. Of cos meeting Alda and the rest was really nice. =D Last but now least, I brought my psuedo-kids parents to Resort World Sentosa. They like it, and when we got back home, mummy found out she's won 1st prize 4D. She's gonna use the money to go korea with Dad, she said.
Ok btw I’m proud to be single so stop the being-single talk.

Zoo
went to the Mandai Zoo today!! I remembered when i was 20 or somewhere there, ying was singing the song I'm going to the Zoo Zoo Zoo and Z attempted to sing it today too, except he forgot the tune of it! I don't remember whether i had enjoyed being at the Zoo with ying, Dren and the rest, but today i had some good fun!
Z is doing a trip to Africa in Oct and he was talking about seeing tigers there, but today we saw on the board that there are no Tigers in Africa, only in Asia!
For White Tigers, they were repoduced by this one white tigeress called Mohan spotted in 1951. So somewhat incest was commited and the population today.

And next, we saw the Baboons, which are some monkeys with some heart shaped ass. And there were so many of them living under the same community! You should see Z's hilarous, shocking face when he saw the Baboons. In the pic, if u can spot the affection, one Baboon is picking ticks and dead skin for another. OH SO TOUCHING for some awkwardly-looking beast.

Of cos we saw the biggest animal - the elephant. They are not as big as the one in Phuket that Darling WL and I sat on. But they are pretty well-trained, more so than the ones in Phuket. But actually the ones in Singapore are of a tamer looking species. At least the mahouts did not have to keep using the Aṅkuśa (or ankus, anlius)–a sharp metal hook used in the training and handling of the elephant. Makes me nostalgic of the trip in Phuket with WL sitting on the clumsy, rebellious, young elephant - it was one hell of a rocking back-breaking ride.

Lastly, of mentioned is the white peacock. Did it come from the heavens? OH GOD! And we also spotted another indigo coloured bird, with a resplendent, different-shades of-purple crown. But it doesn't have any feathers behind. It wasn't stated what it is. Z said it must be a chicken. LOL............what a beautiful chicken.
We also happen to see the lions' feeding time so chunks of raw meat was thrown over to them and they feast on it voraciously. YUM. I stared at the feasting for a little while. What is it that these lions have that made them so agressive? ROAR.

So I didn't take any pictures with Z at all, if you don't count the pictures taken by the kid (who take the pictures for the visitors at the door). Reason being: too shy.

PLAY
I feel a little like a fallen star, receding to a normal stone.
Am i receding toward an ebb of social enjoyment?
I loved the thrill and the rush, and I called it life. I used to embrace them, in any sort they might come.
But now i fear. People reaffirmed me it is the way I am, and don't stop. But i didn't force myself to falter. Surely, it is indeed myself who wants to take a back seat. I remember vividly when i said "No, i wouldn't marry a 50 year old, it's not true love, and I want true love".
Let PLAY just stop for a bit.

The Batam people
I'm not going to be fanciful with this post. I wanna bring out to you and see for myself in words the true culture of the Indonesia Batam people, having spent almost a yr with them (on and off - real duration being 9 months).
I do not see literally the wealth hierarchy amongst these people. At Nagoya hill mall where I usually eat my dinners, once I saw an Indonesia Chinese couple with two maids, who donned maid agency uniform so it was obvious they're maids, handling two or three children of their employer.
At the Plaza where I usually do my lunches, this old woman with old musty clothes never fail to sit by the road side with her hand-held pot so people could drop money in there. OK, i never went by the woman near enough to see what she's wearing or holding but kenny (the manger) claims she's always there, and suggested me giving her money.
At the workplace, the Production supervisor openly asked me about the amount of money they are paid - a merely $300 per month, for working 12 hours rotating shift. The Operators would make lesser and the cleaners? I think the cleaners make nothing. Yes, living standard in Batam is low but if you have kids, how many KFC meals can you buy for the children? A KFC meal doesn't cost too far from what we are paying for in Sing.
I feel really awkward about the Production supervisor asking me the question about his salary. Not cos of the amount they are paid, but because the amount their factory is paying my consultancy firm to hire us to help them. Even if he is directing at our pay contrast, it still makes my heart ache. It makes my heart ache more to see the skinny women doing the cleaning at the workplace. Are they earning $100/ month? Do they not have enough food? Are there lights for their children at home to study?
Have you heard of the Chinese Indonesians coming over to Sing to the boutiques at Orchard Ion or Orchard Central to sweep off the latest LV bags? For a weekend, they can spend at a rate that will clear our bank account.
I do not know who these affluent people in Batam are. I'm more farmilar with the "white collar" working people, who can't afford to be extravagent but definately can afford a decent meal. These people have also bought me one of those Batam $2 lunches willingly and happily.
